N° 01·The brief

Show the job. Don't describe it.

McDonald's UK reach hundreds of thousands of applicants a year. The gap between a job advert and the reality of the shift is where interest is lost, expectations misalign, and early leavers are made.

The remit for JobBox was simple: give the People Arches team a portable, self-contained way to put a candidate. or a school group, a jobcentre visitor, a partner. inside a real restaurant. No slideshow. No script. No hire fee for a venue.

One case. Ten headsets. Ready in ninety seconds.

N° 02·The build

A physical product, not a rental.

Everything McDonald's need lives inside one case. It's theirs to own, badge, ship, and reload with new films as the estate evolves.

/01 · Case

Rugged, wheeled, labelled

Impact-resistant shell with recessed handles, twin latches, and a co-branded lid plate. Sized to hand-carry or trolley.

/02 · Foam

Cut for ten headsets

Twin-density foam, laser-cut to hold each headset in place through transit. Slots labelled MD1 through MD10.

/03 · Power

Integrated charging

USB pass-through routed through the foam so the case charges as one, from a single power drop.

/04 · Content

The film is theirs

Loaded with the McDonald's restaurant experience. Swappable as new departments and stories are captured across the estate.

N° 03·Craft detail

The details they don't ask for. but always remember.

A JobBox is opened on floors, in kitchens, in schools, in reception areas. It has to look serious the moment the lid lifts. Every seam, every label, every port earns its place.

N° 06·The film

Not a tour. A shift.

The McDonald's film is built like a short. Six minutes. First-person. No voiceover pushing a message. The candidate stands where a crew member stands, watches what they'd watch, and hears what they'd hear.

N° 09·Signals we watch

How we'll know it's working.

Nothing here is a promise. These are the honest signals the People Arches team can watch for as the box goes into the field. Baselines are being agreed before first deployment.

Signal /01

Quality of conversation

Are candidates asking better questions on the other side of the headset? Fewer “what's the job”, more “when can I start”.

Signal /02

Self-selection

How many candidates opt out. cleanly and early. after seeing the reality. Fewer bad-fit hires further down the line.

Signal /03

Reach

Groups and locations the team can now cover that a full recruitment day never would. schools, jobcentres, community events.

Signal /04

Early-tenure retention

The signal that matters most. Candidates who saw the shift before day one, staying past week twelve.
